Take Back the Night
Our "Take Back the Night" candlelight vigil on Oct. 25th was a moving remembrance of past victims of domestic violence. Asst. District Attorney, Warren McSweeney, spoke about the heartbreaking quest to bring justice for the victims. A brave young woman spoke about her family's loss of her sister who had been murdered by an ex-boyfriend just this last August in Robbins.
Her story highlights the travesty of abuse and how devastating it can be to the surviving family members. A poem and prayer was given and the 71 murder victims names were read by candlelight then the candles were blown out. Community leaders, police officers, firefighters, concerned citizens, volunteers, victims and survivors came together to remember. All of us a Friend to Friend thank you for the support of the mission to stop domestic violence and help victims rebuild their lives.
