Danger Signs of Abuse

Has someone you love treated you in any of these ways:

  • Slapped, punched, thrown, chased, bitten, pinched, beaten, shaken, kicked, and/or pushed you
  • Thrown things at you
  • Accused you of being unfaithful
  • Keeps track of all your time
  • Calls you demeaning names, criticizes or humiliates you
  • Yells at you or your children
  • Threatens you, your children or your pet's lives.
  • Denies basic necessities (food, water, health care, shelter, access to calling 911 for help, etc.)
  • Forced you into unwanted sex or sexual acts
  • Isolated you from family and friends

If so, you may be in danger of being abused.

  • Are you fearful when they are angry?
  • Are you afraid to express your feelings or wishes due to the possible reaction from partner?
  • Do you feel controlled by your partner?
  • Do you spend much of your time trying to keep partner happy to avoid violence or threats?

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, you may be in danger of being abused.
