Domestic violence crosses ethnic, racial, age, religious, sexual orientation, national origin, and socioeconomic lines. The health-related costs alone of rape, physical assault, stalking and homicide committed by intimate partners exceed $5.8 billion each year, according to a report released by the centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Moore County alone had ten deaths due to domestic violence in 2009.

In 2009 Friend to Friend:

•Assisted over 330 new domestic violence and sexual assault clients

•2032 crisis calls and counseling sessions

•Over 330 restraining orders and 330+ court accompaniments

•Over 1800 victims served

•600+ volunteer hours in service to Friend to Friend

•Approximately 100 individuals stay in Serenity House each year, providing for approximately 2000 days of care.

•served an about 6000 meals at our shelter.

•educated over 3500 students on how to deal with anger and abusive relationships through our Child Assault Prevention Program.

Friend to Friend is committed to help victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
